U-G-L-Y...Yet Consistent Jan 20, 2008
by Teepu Khawja

That's all that can be said about this game. Ikhlas was consistent in attendance, or lack thereof, the chief reason they finished last in the league this season. The day started off with a call from their captain informing of a likely default, but some players managed to show up (3 in total) and the rest of the squad was pieced together through the approved list of pick-up players. As a result, playing with that type of showing, the outcome could be easily assumed, especially against the number 1 seed Tamjeed who showed up with a full squad.

But give Ikhlas' players some credit for their effort. It seems they have become accustomed to these type of games and are used to having to play their hearts out. Their effort didnt disappoint today, and the outcome likely didn’t even considering the circumstances. The half-time score was 29-11, but Ikhlas actually outscored Tamjeed 32-31 in the 2nd half. A moral victory.

As expected, the Chaudhry brothers hustled, fouled a bit too much due to aggression, and scored the majority of Ikhlas’ points. For Tamjeed, they were likely happy to see some of their other players, namely Ahsan and Abdi, get the shine in today’s game and hopefully continue to perform as well in future rounds.

The future for this Ikhlas roster is up in the air for next season, but Tamjeed will wait to face the (tired) winner of next week’s Maun vs Qadr match-up.
