Nas beats up shorthanded Falaq for big win Jun 20, 2006
by Zuhair Fancy

When these teams met in the regular season Nas won 57-40 after a huge second half. Falaq would be hard pressed to win this game as they showed up with no substitutes and no natural point guard. Nas had their big guns available and was looking to establish a big lead early.

Nas came out flying with an 8-0 start to the game and continued this throughout the first half as they spread the scoring around. Falaq was clearly in trouble as fatigue set in early as they were unable to keep up with the quicker Nas guards. The first half ended with Nas up 27-13, Ismail Kara led Nas with 4 points while Falaq got 4 points each from Najib Schemkhel and Bilal Tayara.

The second half continued as the first did with Falaq unable to handle the quicker Nas guards. Nas began to press the ball as well which created turnovers and easy baskets to build the lead. The only highlight for Falaq was Dennis Kucukovic draining a long three-pointer in Mohammed Kadva’s face.

The game ended with Nas winning 52-36, Farhan Baig finished with 15 points and hit both three point attempts he took. Falaq was led by Schemkhel with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Falaq will need to add some depth to their roster for next season as well as some size.

Nas will move on to play Ikhlas in the 2nd round. Ikhlas won the regular season match-up 41-38 in a tightly contested game.
